However, now technology has progressed and we can get digital television or DTV via cable or satellite. This form of receiving television signal allows us to get much cleaner and more consistent pictures compared to analog televisions.

Now, another technology in viewing television is slowly getting popular. This technology allows people to watch real colors and clearer pictures. This technology is HDTV or high definition television. The quality of picture and sound is just unbelievable.

Although DTV and HDTV sound similar, there are distinct differences between the two. HDTV gives crystal clear and high definition picture that is better than DTV. Although DTV and HDTV use the same methodology to receive signal, that is digitally, the quality of picture is better in HDTV.

Your television might have digital TV capabilities but it may not be able to re  ceive HDTV. This is primarily because there may be no HDTV broadcast stations in the area you live in. In the US, the FCC has mandated all broadcasters to switch to digital technology. Therefore, to enjoy full benefits and optimum results, you might have to switch to high-end HDTV sooner or later.

It goes without saying that HDTV is the television of the future. Although prices are still high, there is no doubt that they will decrease as demand for HDTV increases.
